Hale Kahiko(ancient house) is a replica of a portion of a Kauhale (Hawaiian village). Join our hostesses for a free guided tour & take a " walk through history" or stroll through on your own using a free map.

Welcome to Hale Kahiko! As you enter our village, you will see three hale. Each hale in the village was built for a specific function, such as eating, sleeping or craft making.

The load bearing poles are from the Ohia tree, lashed with twine made from the fibers of the coconut tree.

The roof thatching is Pili grass, and the floors are covered with smooth pebbles from the ocean or streams. Around each Hale are plants used by the Hawaiian people.
