- Hale Kahiko(ancient house) is a replica of a portion of a Kauhale
(Hawaiian village). Join our hostesses for a free guided tour &
take a " walk through history" or stroll through on your own
using a free map.

- Welcome to Hale Kahiko! As you enter our village, you will see three
hale. Each hale in the village was built for a specific function, such
as eating, sleeping or craft making.

- The load bearing poles are from the Ohia tree, lashed with twine made
from the fibers of the coconut tree.

- The roof thatching is Pili grass, and the floors are covered with smooth
pebbles from the ocean or streams. Around each Hale are plants used by
the Hawaiian people.
